Google Art Project

I recently set a goal for myself that I would experience at least one form of art each week. Whether through music, poetry, paintings, or drama. After an accidental hiatus from art, a trip to the local art gallery brought me to tears. I had no idea that art plays such an important role in my life, and I must continue to indulge myself into its every form.

In my quest for art, I stumbled upon the brilliant, new Google Art Project. Google created the opportunity for us to view artwork up-close and personal, without having to leave my desk. The folks at Google call the project, “A unique collaboration with some of the world’s most acclaimed art museums to enable people to discover and view more than a thousand artworks online in extraordinary detail.”

Granted, on-screen art work will never, ever, be a substitute for the tangible originals, but at least I’m still able to have a little art interaction during the day. Today, I can’t get enough of Amsterdam’s Rijksmuseum. I hope you wander over there and check it out. Create and account and save your favorites, so you can return and visit art from around the world!

Do you have a favorite museum, artist, or painting?
