And you say you’re a Christian

January 7, 2011

I was sitting in a undergraduate Bible class, listening to my Professor talk about something that I’m sure was important. However, what stuck with me in that particular class had nothing to do with the actual topic. In fact, I can’t even remember the name of the class.

“My daughter can’t wait for the new U2 album [How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb]. She’s going to straight from school to Wal-Mart to wait in line for the release.”

Wait, what? *crickets*crickets*

People wait in line for releases? Why would you do that? It’ll be the same album the next day. (This will be a part of culture that I will never understand.)

What? Wait. Back up.

U2?

You mean, that secular, doesn’t-know-Jesus, Christians-will-go-to-h**l for listening to band?

Hold the presses. I’m confused.

This was Bible class.

My Professor was supposed to be a Christian, and he’s letting his teenage daughter wait in line to buy THAT?! Something isn’t right here.

So…is U2 actually a Christian band that I didn’t know about? No, I don’t think so…

Why then, would he let her listen to that garbage?

Could it be that….no, not possible.

But maybe…..

No.

Could it?

Christians are allowed to listen to THAT?!

Behold, my new favorite band.

I love this 🙂 Matt and I are going to see U2 on June 4th! SO excited. By the way, if you can find it on Youtube, you should watch Bono’s speech at the National Prayer Breakfast from a couple years ago. So good….

Miss you! I was supposed to see Lauren this weekend, but a snow forecast and not feeling good got in the way. Sad.
